exchange between scrc iec & harvard scholars about iec development in china & human research protection in us
on tuesday the 15th of march 2011, , assistant dean for regulatory affairs and the director for the human research administration at harvard school of public health and , director of special project, the human research administration at harvard school of public health paid a visit to scrc with a aim of learning more about the infrastructure of human research review, approval and oversight in china and meanwhile to identify a few ethics review committees to serve as harvard university´s collaborating sites for a long-term working relationship. a seminar was organized for experts and leaders in this area to share the practice and information in china.
dr qingli hu, the director of scrc iec and his colleague had introduced the system and ethical guidelines for reviewing and conducting human research in china and particularly in scrc. scrc’s efforts in promoting the ethical review development were highly recognized by dr. delia wolf and julie kaberry.
the seminar were attended by more than 20 experts and professors in the field of clinical research and ethic review from major hospitals and universities in shanghai, such as huashan hospital affiliated to fudan university, children´s hospital affiliated shanghai jiaotong university, fudan university, etc .
it is hoped that this interactive seminar can be a good basis for improving exchange and communication in human research and ethical review between china and us.
