dec. 3rd, 2012---central laboratory (shanghai fenglin clinical laboratory) was awarded accreditation by the college of american pathologists (cap) after an on-site inspection conducted on oct.22, 2012.
the cap-accredited laboratories were recognized and congratulated by the inspection team for the exemplary services provided and for achieving zero deficiencies --- a feat very difficult to achieve. the inspectors commented on the laboratories' excellent quality of patient testing, documentation and organization.
during the cap accreditation process, inspectors examine the laboratory's records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. cap inspectors also examine laboratory staff qualifications, as well as the lab's equipment, facilities, safety program and record, in addition to the overall management of the laboratory. this stringent inspection program, begun in the early 1960s, is designed to specifically ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients.
a college of american pathologists (cap) accredited laboratory is inspected by an inspector from the cap or by a voluntary peer group accredited by the cap and approved by the centers for medicare and medicaid services (cms). the goal of the cap laboratory accreditation program is to improve the quality of clinical laboratory services through the volunteer participation, professional peer review, education and compliance with established performance standards. all laboratories awarded cap accreditation become part of an exclusive group of more than 7,000 laboratories worldwide that have met the highest standards of excellence.
