the delegation of scrc visited switzerland and germany
on august 25th, 2013, the delegation of three members from shanghai clinical research center (scrc) led by vice president dr. jack xu, together with dr. yongjun wang, vice president of longhua hospital, dr. juyong wang, director of gcp office longhua hospital of tcm and dr. jing zhang, vice chief of institute for drug clinical trial of huashan hospital, paid a seven-day visit to switzerland and germany, under the program of sino swiss science and technology cooperation (ssstc).
the delegation visited clinical trials center (ctc) and phase i unit of the university and university hospital zurich, as well as st. joseph-hospital in berlin. during the visit, the delegation learnt the development and achievements of clinical research, translational research and life science research both in switzerland and germany.
with the aim to establish a network of cooperation in clinical research, the sino swiss clinical research symposium was organized by ctc, university and university hospital zurich from aug. 26th-30th . the symposium has brought together scientists with different backgrounds from shanghai, hong kong and ,on which researchers exchanged opinions and sharing their knowledge on the different topics of the symposium. with the theme of investigator-initiated trials (iit's), the symposium covered five mail topics, including "why conduct ", "optimizing data and information management in clinical trials ", "incentives for conducting iit's - administrative assistance, training of clinical trial personnel ", "good clinical practise and investigator initiated trials " and "marketing approval process of medical devices". the symposium has helped raising the level of understanding between different research cultures under the same roof of international standards and regulations. the participants has highly praised the symposium and proposed to hold the symposium annually in different regions between switzerland and china. dr. jack xu from scrc elaborated the newest development of chinese medicine clinical research in china. besides, he also shared his thoughts on drug innovation, regulation as well as the medical devices and intellectual property in china.
on aug. 31rd, the delegation visited st. joseph hospital in berlin, germany, accompanied by dr. jurg lustenberger, vice director of ctc. founded in 1888, st. joseph's hospital ("st. joseph krankenhaus" in german), with its 475 beds, is the largest catholic hospital in berlin. around 65,000 patients are treated here as either inpatients or outpatients every year. the delegation had a meeting with prof. dr. , leading investigator in the field of parkinson therapy. dr. thomas muller introduced the current situation of clinical research in the field of parkinson therapy, whose advanced philosophy and professional operation is advisable for researchers.
the researchers and experts from ctc, scrc and other asian institutions exchanged knowledge and experience of clinical research, as well as explored the future plan of the cooperation in the different field of clinical research.
