prof. qingli hu, the director of independent ethics committee, shanghai clinical research center, has been appointed for a second mandate as member of the international bioethics committee (ibc) for a period of four years (2010-2013) by the director-general of unesco.
the international bioethics committee (ibc) of unesco, founded in 1993, is a body composed of 36 independent experts from all regions and from different disciplines (mainly medicine, genetics, law, and philosophy) that follows progress in the life sciences and its applications in order to ensure respect for human dignity and human rights. prof. qingli hu is the only member from china.
